French Empire Mahogany Bureau Plat
An exquisite mahogany bureau plat in the French Empire style. The mahogany is french polished to a wonderful luxurious sheen. This effect adds depth to the grain and color variations of the mahogany. There is a leather insert writing surface. The leather is tooled with gold and designed with a center decorative diamond shape and each corner with laurel wreaths. The one functional side has three drawers. There are two flanking a center drawer. The two flanking drawers have round ormolu pulls and the center drawer has a palmette style key for the pull. There are four legs at each corner of the rectangular table. Four bronze mounted gilded claw feet resting atop a shaped stretcher. There are four ball feet. Circa Date 1900-1920.
