Swedish Style Painted Commode
Textured Swedish blue/grey multi-layered scrubbed paint finish on Poplar solids. Three drawers with Bronze finish hardware.

18th Century French Commode in the Louis XV style. Made of fruitwood and chestnut paneled sides. There two smaller drawers with a split front above two larger drawers. The hardware is a ormolu bronze handle in the Baroque style. This piece has a luxurious patina and color. Great versatile size. Circa 1790-1800.

A fine 19th century Empire mahogany three-drawer commode with white marble columns flanking the drawers. The top drawer has a secret unlocking mechanism (not so secret because we photographed it). Beautiful flamed grain mahogany. These are thick cut panels which are bookmatched. Nice oval pulls from brass. Tapered legs. There is a sticker of a previous owner. Purchased in Europe, circa 1830-1840s.

19th century Italian walnut three-drawer breakfront commode. This commode is decorated with figured cuts of quality woods. Giving the dramatic look. The front has oval pulls surrounded by oval inlays (nice touch). Corners chamfered with inlays giving a reeded look and accented with decorative mounts. Sides are paneled and has had repairs on each side (darker area) which was done prior to import. A figured top banded and centered with an inlaid coat of arms. A fine French polish gives the depth of color. Very nice piece. C.1850-1860.

Country french walnut commode with thick cut veneer inlays to the front. This commode has a two board top and two board panel sides. The sides are framed in by walnut. The front is decorated with burl woods, thick cut, bands of wood in a triangular cuts and surrounded with a darker stained walnut. The commode rest upon four tapered legs. This piece is simple looking but if you look at the inlay work you will see the quality of the craftsmanship. Brass hardware completes the front and keeps the clean lines. Circa 1820-1840.
A superb Tuscan walnut commode with iron handles and escutcheons. Thick shaped moldings leading to cuts of figured walnut veneers. Wonderful condition and patina. Clean, Circa 1870.

A posh Continental painted commode from the late 18th century, having three drawers (each with key and functional locks) which are presented with stencil patterns and painted countrysides. Each scene depicting people in a local activity. On either side of the drawers are half round and turned columns. The piece rest upon bun feet. The top is also stenciled with a bellflower boarder surrounding a garden scene and ruins with man and lady. This has had a refresh of paint but the chest is 18th century.
This important french commode has a shaped front and three drawers. The commode is decorated with kingwood and tulipwood veneers which are quartered cut, banded, herringbone cut and satinwood string inlay. The commode drawers are divided by brass lined flutes and flanked with brass-lined flutes. The commode rest on bracket feet with an ormolu sabot. Heavy and decorative handles from ormolu adorn the drawers with complimentary escutcheons. The commode has a shaped apron centered with shell and acanthus leaf bronze mount. The top has a matching shaped front with a molded cut edging. We think the marble is Brèche du Nord cut. Circa 1890-1900. We think Parisian made!

A spectacular 18th century Lyonnaise serpentine front chateau size commode with three drawers and rococo ormolu hardware. Fantastic wood molding with carvings to enhance the appearance. Raised and beveled sides adorn both sides of the commode. 1770-1790.
